Vetting, supervision, indemnity and insurance, set out plainly. If something here is not clear enough, say so and we will rewrite it.

Everything below is already how GapIT operates. The indemnity form is published here in full. The remaining signed policy documents come from GapIT directly, and you are entitled to read them before your child travels.
What is checked before an organisation can host, and who checks it.
Who is responsible for a participant on site, and how that is agreed in writing.
The form is published in full on this site. It covers participation being voluntary, who is indemnified, who pays fees, and what the participant agrees to abide by. Read it before you sign.
The agreement asks you to confirm the participant has adequate medical insurance cover, so it is arranged by the family rather than by GapIT. Ask us if you are not sure what is adequate.

In practice
Every host organisation is checked before a placement is confirmed, and no placement starts until the paperwork is done.
01
Visited and vetted
We place participants only with organisations we have visited, checked and signed a partnership agreement with.
02
A named supervisor
Someone at the host organisation is responsible for a participant from day one, and knows it.
03
Signed before travel
The indemnity is part of the single intake form, signed before a placement is confirmed and signed by a parent or guardian where the participant is under eighteen.
04
Briefed on both sides
Participants are briefed, indemnified and insured before the first morning, and the host is briefed about them.
What to ask for
01
Ask for the documents
The indemnity, insurance and safeguarding documents are issued by GapIT. Request them from info@gapit.co.zw and they will be sent to you.
02
Read it before signing
Parents are entitled to read the indemnity in full and to have anything in it explained.
03
Written reporting
You are told what your child is doing, where and with whom, with written reporting during the placement so you know how it is going without having to ask.
04
Ask a person
There is a consultation specifically for parents, covering vetting, supervision, indemnity and insurance.
One hour, free, with a real person. No obligation and no sales script, just a conversation about what you might do next.
01
